79th Street is coming back to life.
Originally built in 1926, the historic Rusnak Brothers Furniture building sat vacant for years. MKB Architects partnered with GAGDC to transform the empty building from the inside out: a new centralized circulation core; punched new windows into the existing east elevation; a renewed storefront at street level, and a facelift to the historic terra cotta façade.
The 55,000SF building will be home to GAGDC’s main offices, health and wellness services, supporting local workforce and community development. A future roof terrace will support urban agriculture and renewable energy opportunities.
