Gateway Foundation – Aurora

AURORA, IL | SUBSTANCE ABUSE REHABILITATION & RECOVERY CENTER
Supporting Long-Term Addiction Recovery

MKB Architects is proposing to Gateway Foundation an addition to an existing facility that will add a 36-bed home for patients in their last stages of recovery. The project consists of a new, single-story, 19,650 gross SF Residential Recovery facility, a new campus dining facility with a divisible dining room to be shared with an existing residential inpatient treatment building on campus, a multi-point entry area with separate public and residential entries, multiple shared group rooms, and a secure, central courtyard.

The concept design was developed with Gateway leadership with two goals: creating a building that best supported their present and future needs for residential care, and creating a facility that places Gateway at the top tier of addiction disorder treatment providers in the area. MKB Architects envisioned a holistic site for healing and wellness providing residents with amenities commensurate with those of top-tier peer organizations.
